Exploratory OT Sessions
Endless Possibilities and Transformational Experiences
Growth and development are on the horizon at Little Roots! But maybe you’re still wondering what occupational therapy exactly is, and how we can help your child.
Your child might need the support of an occupational therapist if they have challenges with fine motor, gross motor or visual motor skills, balance, coordination, handwriting, sensory processing, or other areas. Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment can help children with developmental delays and differences become more independent and functional in their daily lives. It can also help with physical, cognitive, or behavioral conditions.
Specialized Support Rooted in Sensory Integration
At Little Roots, your child is supported by a highly trained therapist with advanced knowledge of the sensory systems and child development. Our approach blends specialized training in sensory processing integration with certification as a Primitive Reflex Clinical Specialist and training as a Certified Yoga Teacher. This combination allows us to look at the whole child—addressing the nervous system foundations that support regulation, motor skills, learning, and emotional well-being.
→ What This Means For Your Child:
A sensory-first approach that supports emotional regulation, attention, and body awareness.
Identification and integration of retained primitive reflexes when they impact development.
Play-based sessions rooted in connection, movement, and child-led exploration.
Strategies that build confidence, coordination, and independence in daily life.
Pediatric OT Services offered at Little Roots:
Introductory Consultation: A one-time visit involving both the child and caregiver(s) to gain clarity on pediatric OT services. This visit offers a chance to connect, discuss concerns, ask questions, observe the child in a low-pressure setting, and determine the need for a full comprehensive evaluation.
Comprehensive Evaluation: A detailed, individualized assessment of your child's sensory, motor and functional skills. This session includes clinical observations, caregiver input, and a collaborative plan for therapeutic goals.
Individualized Treatment Options: Targeted interventions to help your child meet developmental milestones, overcome sensory challenges, integrate primitive reflexes and improve self-care, play skills and self-regulation abilities.
Fun-Filled Yoga Classes
Jump Into The Imagination Zone & Soar With Excitement
Yoga is a way for all children with any range of abilities to explore new skills and potential at Little Roots! But maybe you’re not sure of all the amazing benefits that children’s yoga can offer.
→ Scheduled Negative Time & Skill Development
In a way, yoga is a scheduled negative time for your child, where they can decompress from busy schedules and long days. Yoga creates intentional space for rest, stillness, and nervous system regulation. Yoga supports a child's language and communication skills, cognitive abilities, movement and physical development, and social emotional learning. Newer research shows that yoga not only helps with a child’s balance, coordination and posture, but also enhances their emotional expression, empathy and self-esteem. Yoga can is a valuable tool for managing energy levels, stress, emotions and relationships.
→ Reduce Core Symptoms
Yoga helps decrease anxiety, hyperactivity, and sensory overload through movement and breath. A study from 2015 demonstrated that yoga can be an effective way to reduce some core symptoms of ADHD. The study used 8 randomized controlled trials to look at symptoms like inattention, hyperactivity or impulsiveness. The goal was to see whether exercise could have an impact on ADHD and the results were positive. Yoga and aerobic exercise were looked at separately, and the study suggested that yoga could improve core ADHD symptoms.
